The RME BUNDLE MULTIFACE II and HDSPe PCI Card 24 Bit / 96 kHz, 36-channel HDSP I/O Box. A powerful external break-out box bundled with the RME HDSPe PCI express interface forms a complete HDSP System for your Mac or Windows computer.

The RME BUNDLE MULTIFACE II is not only multi because of the many different interface formats supported, but also multi-channel. The small box using half the space of a 19 inch rack includes outstanding power and extensive features. Based on RME's award-winning Hammerfall technology and equipped with the latest circuit designs of the Fireface 800, the RME HDSP MULTIFACE II offers ADAT optical I/O, SPDIF I/O, MIDI I/O, word clock I/O and a separate hi-power monitor output. The RME HDSP MULTIFACE II also provides 8 analog inputs and outputs, balanced and 96 kHz/24 bit, of course. All this can be used on laptops as well as on desktop computers with 'zero cpu load' and low latency. The front panel of the Multiface II hosts some useful status LEDs, like MIDI state, lock state of the digital inputs and error state of the host-bus. Additionally there's a high-quality 24 bit/96 kHz analog line output, also usable with headphones, and one MIDI I/O. Multiface II has a rear panel with unrivalled connectivity: 8 analog line I/Os on 1/4 inch TRS jacks (balanced, 24 bit/96 kHz), ADAT optical I/O (switchable to SPDIF optical), SPDIF I/O coaxial and word clock I/O. The RME Multiface 2 can be used with laptops as well as desktop computers. The connection to notebooks is achieved via a CardBus card (not included), the connection to desktops via an HDSP PCI card or via an HDSPe PCI Express card. This bundle includes the RME HDSPe PCI express card. The RME HDSPe PCI is a valuable part of the Hammerfall DSP System. RME's HDSPe PCI card is not based on a PCI to PCI Express bridge, which would simply add PCIe to existing PCI technology. It is a newly developed genuine PCI Express solution, which consequently takes full advantage of the new format, achieving significant performance gains in multitrack audio. Thanks to RME's flash update technology, future firmware improvements, adjustments, and bugfixes can be installed easily at any time. The PCI Express interface of the HDSP system is based on the PCI Express Base Specification v 1.1. It represents a 1-Lane PCI Express Endpoint Device and supports 2.5 Gbps line speed. Thanks to the packet-based full duplex communication, the card provides a transfer rate of up to 500 MB/s - 250 MB/s in every direction. The connection between PCI card and I/O box is established using ordinary firewire cable (IEEE 1394, 6-pole.) The data transfer does not use Firewire protocol, but RME's own proprietary bus protocol. The supplied cable is 4.5 m (15 ft.) long. The PCI card operates as power supply for the attached Multiface II I/O-box (and optional Digiface, Multiface, RPM I/O) over the FireWire cable.
