The Synthogy Ivory II American Concert D is a sample-based 1951 New York Steinway D virtual piano with a faithful tone, incredible dynamic range and musical expressiveness.
Ivory II American Concert D can run stand-alone or as a plug-in on both Mac and PC, and is a faithful recreation of the sound of one of the finest acoustic pianos ever made. The piano was recorded in the Françoys-Bernier Concert Hall at Le Domaine Forget in the Charlevoix region of Quebec, a recording location used previously by Synthogy for the German Steinway piano.
The particular piano used for this recording has been signed by two of the world’s great pianists - Glenn Gould and Rudolf Serkin, putting their stamp of approval on this beautiful instrument. To ensure that the sound of this beauty was captured faithfully, the Synthogy team worked harder than ever with technician Michel Pedneau and performer/producer Joe Ierardi to capture the nuances of the real instrument for the Ivory II American Concert D.
The instrument has up to 20 velocity levels and makes use of Sample Interpolation Technology to create a seamless and expressive tone. The Ivory II piano engine ensures that the subtleties of the instrument are recreated accurately using Harmonic Resonance Modelling for Sympathetic String Vibration, velocity and duration-triggered Release, and pedal noise control. High-quality natural effects can be added within the plug-in to add that touch of space to the otherwise perfect American Concert D piano.
