JamMan Stereo Looper/Phrase Sampler Effects Pedal description:

The DigiTech JamMan Stereo Looper/Phrase Sampler. When DigiTech developed the PDS 8000 looper pedal over twenty years ago, it looped eight seconds of audio. When they reinvented loopers in 2005 with the original JamMan, over 6 hours worth of material could be stored on a removable media card. Now, DigiTech has raised the bar with the new JamMan Stereo Looper with the ability to store 35 minutes of CD-quality loops in 99 internal memories as well as having an SD memory card expansion slot giving you the ability to store over 16 hours of material in an additional 99 slots.

The JamMan Stereo features true stereo looping, reverse playback, and a mic input making it perfect for backing tracks or DJ applications. The JamMan Stereo also features USB connectivity and will sync to DigiTech’s free JamManager software that organises and saves your JamMan Stereo loops to PC or Mac. JamManager also lets you quickly create custom JamLists to take to your gig.

The DigiTech JamMan Stereo Main Features Include:

  • Store over 35 minutes of stereo, CD-Quality loops in 99 internal memories
  • Optional SDHC card can store over 16 hours* of CD-quality audio in 99 additional memories (198 total)

  • 4 Heavy-duty metal footswitches for looping and loop selection
  • Connect to your computer via USB and use the JamManager Loop Librarian software to organise and archive your loops
  • Aux Input lets you import music from CD and MP3 players

Review:
Solid build and no need for extra pedal for loop scrolling. Excellent for use as a backing track player for live work.

There are other loopers with more features but none for this price. It takes seconds to get looping and the memory expandability means you can store 198 loops from instrument, mic and line inputs. My only gripe is that it doesn't work in my amp (Orange Dark Terror) FX loop (well it does but it saps a load of tone and volume).

5 Stars for looping performance and ease of use, only let down by the rhythm tracks which are more metronome than drum. After half an hour of getting used the settings I was jamming away with what sounded like a band in my living room. Makes practise and learning new songs so much more fun. An absolute joy.

Review:
Incredibly easy to use! After using a number of loopers which are either very hard to get an exact loop or give a poor recorded loop sound this was amazingly easy to loop and sounds great. Very impressed.

Review:
Sound quality is good and functionality excellent for the price. Was a little disappointed in the drum/metronome options and certainly wouldn't want to use them as a backing....I either work without the metronome (which means your playing and pedal timing needs to be good) or play to it and then turn it down before adding overdubs.
I'm currently using for playing around with ideas...I can certainly see it working live but would need to spend a lot more time to feel comfortable with it.

Seems like DV sent me a european version with only a euro plug adapter on the power supply and though they quickly sent me an extra UK plug adapter, I now have a power supply with euro adapter fitted then plugged into this UK adapter.....seems a bit of a frankenstein-ish solution and can't help wondering if proper UK units would have a UK adapter fitting direct to the supply.

Review:
This is a simple to use, but comprehensive looper with all you need to do the job. The sound quality and stereo output is really handy to do interesting things in the mix without having to create aux tracks and so on, and I must emphasise that the sound is absolutely brilliant. I do pass it through a UA pre-amp to warm it up a bit, but the fact that the sound coming in is so accurate when it emerges, and doesn't sound digital at all, makes it a joy toward with.

Review:
Only just received this so not conversant with all controls yet. It has good quality electronics with good signal to noise ratio. I bought it initially to improve the accuracy of my playing. It is easy to record a basic backing track using the built in rhythm click which can be set for different tempos. ( If you find the rhythm click annoying you can simply turn the volume control down once you have recorded your initial track ) You can then either just play it back to practise a lead over the top or you can overdub to build up layers. As I said only just getting used to it but it has lots of possibilities. The sdhc slot is useful to download mp3 files onto to play along with. There is software to download to link it to a PC and you can also record from an ipod or mp3 player using the input on the back. The loup can be reversed as well. Will have lots of fun exploring all its uses.

Review:
Awesome piece of kit at a great price.
Excellent build quality. Although strangely no power button.
Easy to use but takes a lot of practice.
Only cons
The stomp buttons are a bit heavy to engage and give an audible click.
Difficult to set tempo right with the stomp button. Having a dedicated Tempo button in conjunction with the dial control to accurately set beats per minute would have been much better.

Overall, very pleased and opens up endless possibilities for extending my playing experience.
