The Gibson VOS 60 Les Paul Special Doublecut is an electric doublecut guitar which follows the VOS (Vintage Original Spec) that make these series of guitars Gibson's next step in their journey towards perfection.
The Les Paul Special made the virtues of the Les Paul available to those who couldn't quite afford the Standard or Custom versions. And it had all the essential features: solid mahogany body and neck, 2 P-90 pickups, wraparound tailpiece, and 2 volume and 2 tone controls with 3-way switching. This Custom Shop Historic Series recreation duplicates the original at its finest. This is the double cutaway version (there was also a 1960s single cutaway) with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays.

VOS stands for “Vintage Original Spec”. The finishing process on VOS models has been customised to reflect the way Gibson finished Les Paul guitars back in the '50s. They receive a thinner nitro-cellulose lacquer finish which is applied, sanded, and buffed by hand; in other words, more care is put into the finishing process. This extra care is intended to make VOS guitars look like gently aged and well-cared-for vintage guitars. It also helps the guitars 'breathe' better and therefore to resonate and sustain more freely, making them much better instruments.
