The Les Paul Special Humbucker is made from solid mahogany. An archetypal tonewood used in countless classic Gibson electric guitars. The guitar’s neck is made from quarter-sawn Grade C mahogany, carved to the fast, yet comfortable SlimTaper profile, with a fingerboard of dark obeche, a rich-brown hardwood with excellent tone and durability. For hardware, Gibson USA packs in a classic set of Tune-o-matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece, with vintage-style, white-button tuners.
The Les Paul Special Humbucker carries two of Gibson USA’s most popular humbucking pickups, an open-coil 490R in the neck position, and a hotter, open-coil 498T in the bridge position. Both provide superb clarity and sustain, and they make a well-matched set, with a balanced output and excellent round, funky tones when combined in the middle position.
