The Gibson Michael Bloomfield 1959 Les Paul Standard is a recreation of Michael Bloomfield’s 1959 Les Paul Standard.
Michael “Mike” Bloomfield was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1943 and growing up he spent most of his time at the Blues Clubs of Chicago’s south side. There he was influenced by the likes of Chuck Berry, B.B. King, and Ray Charles. His favoured guitar was his Gibson Les Paul 59 and his fluid playing style, tone, natural sustain and vibrato has been a major influence to modern guitarists like Joe Bonamassa, John Scofield and Slash.
The Gibson Michael Bloomfield 1959 Les Paul Standard can be heard on music from The Butterfield Blues Band, The Electric Flag, Bob Dylan (more notably on Highway 61 Revisited) and Super Sessions with Al Kooper and Stephen Stills. It is built to the exact specifications of his original 59 Les Paul and captures the essence of one of the best guitarists and musicians of the 20th century.
