Favoured by a wide range of players since the its introduction by Gibson in 1993, the Nighthawk is a powerful guitar aimed at rock, blues, country, jazz and fusion guitar music, claiming to be one of the most versatile electrics around. Gibson's 2011 rendition of the Nighthawk captures all the original specs of this much-loved guitar and adds some excellent improvements.
The 2011 Nighthawk has a chambered poplar body with a AAA-grade quilted maple top which adds plenty of bite to its superb resonance and sustain. It also renders the Nighthawk lighter than most guitars; the scale length is 25 1/2", unusually long scale for Gibson guitars and the added length gives the Nighthawk all the twang and bite you could need.
Electronics-wise, 2011's Gibson Nighthawk has H-S-H pickups, loaded with a Burstbucker 1 in the neck position and Burstbucker 2 at the bridge - both open-coil - and a Ceramic single blade pickup in the middle position. A 5-way switch allows you seemingly endless combinations of the neck, bridge and middle pickups; the Gibson Nighthawk 2011 can achieve just about any electric guitar tone conceivable.
