The Hayden Speakeasy Head is a 50-Watt Valve Guitar Amp head providing great features and a huge variety of sounds.
The Hayden Speakeasy offers two channels with two separate signal paths feeding into a shared tone shaping stage with controls for presence, bass, middle and treble.
When plugging a guitar into the Speakeasy, the pickup pre-filter allows the input signal to be increased or decreased, depending on the loudness of the guitar's pickups. For example, a guitar with single coils will have a quieter signal than one with humbuckers, therefore the pre-filter helps to even up the input signal strength without having to mess with the amp's master volume controls.
Channel 1 has a gain range from clean to light crunch, while Channel 2 features more gain, with sounds ranging from a medium crunch right through to heavy distortion. Both channels feature a valve driven spring reverb.
Each channel has its own master volume control, which enables the clean and drive channels to be balanced separately, while the included footswitch controls the reverb and effects loop which is bypassed entirely when switched off to protect the quality of the signal.
The Speakeasy's output stage features a pair of EL34 valves and a pair of 6L6 valves. A switch on the front panel is used to select the EL34's for the warm, fat, crunchy sounds typical of British valve amps, or the 6L6s for a more American-style tone, while a second switch can be used to select all four valves simultaneously.
