JB Vintage 1975 Bass Guitar Black description:

The J&D JB Vintage 1975 BK is a four-string bass guitar with a classic look reminiscent of a 1970s 'JB' style model.

The J&D JB Vintage 1975 BK has an alder body in a very familiar offset double-cutaway body shape. The bolt-on maple neck is cut with a very comfortable rounded profile, and is topped by a bound maple fingerboard. The block inlays on the frets mimic the bass guitar styles of the 1970s.

In the electronics department, the JB Vintage 1975 has two 'J'-style pickups, one in the bridge position, the other in the middle position. Each pickup has its own Volume control, while they both share a Tone control.

The bass is finished with a black finish, and the body is fitted with a three-ply black pickguard. The fingerboard has a gloss finish, while the hardware is made of chrome.

The main features of the J&D JB Vintage 1975 BK, Black include:

  • 1970s 'JB'-style bass guitar
  • Alder body
  • Bold-on maple neck
  • Bound maple fingerboard with gloss finish
  • 2 x 'J'-style pickups
  • 2 x Volume controls, 1 x Tone control
  • Chrome hardware
  • Black finish with a 3-ply black pickguard

Review:
I ordered based around recommendations from a forum online but was hesitant as to how good a guitar could actually be for the price. It turns out that I did not need to worry. This isn't just a good quality bass for the money but a good quality jazz bass full stop. Out of the box I only needed to do minor adjustments to the intonation before it was ready to roll.

Build quality The bass looks and feels great. The neck is quite slim (even for a jazz) but is very nice to play. Mine did not have any sharp frets that needed sorting and the block inlays on the maple look fantastic. The controls feel solid and the wiring and routing is decent too. The guitar is not particularly heavy (a lot less than my P-Bass) but doesn't feel flimsy.
Sound quality Sounds just like a jazz bass really. Pickups seem quite loud and the controls feel ok and work as they should. I had planned to replace them but I may not now having heard them.

I have owned a MIM Fender bass which was disappointing and tried a few VM Squiers which were really nice but overall I would say that the JD was pretty much on par with them. I am genuinely amazed at how far budget instruments have come along in the last few years!

Review:
This is a great guitar for the money. I have two now. They are well built and finished and with the intitial set up, play well. The sound is good too. The only thing I've done is upgraded the pickups but there is nothing essentially wrong with the ones it come with. At £119 you get a lot of guitar for your money.

Review:
This guitar is really excellent for the price. Very little set up required. Looks good, sounds good and it's a bit lighter than most jazz basses. Compares very well to Squire and Fender Mexican JB's I've played. Will now be looking at acquiring another J & D.

Such a lovely bass, fantastic neck and nice weight to it.

If you are wanting a bass to learn on or just a nice backup bass, this is the one to get.

I cannot quite believe my luck in spotting this gem. It's a very decent bass. No 'taking into account the price' etc it is simply a good bass guitar....and at the price it is an absolute steal.
There is no hiss or buzzing from the electronics, the tone is very good, the finish is very good, it is a nice weight & looks great.
Very very impressed.
