JB Vintage 1975 BSB Bass Guitar, Butterscotch Blonde description:

The J&D JB Vintage 1975 BSB, Butterscotch Blonde is a four-string bass guitar with a classic look reminiscent of a 1970s 'JB' style model.

The J&D JB Vintage 1975 BSB has an alder body in a very familiar offset double-cutaway body shape. The bolt-on maple neck is cut with a very comfortable rounded profile, and is topped by a bound maple fingerboard. The block inlays on the frets mimic the bass guitar styles of the 1970s.

In the electronics department, the JB Vintage 1975 has two 'J'-style pickups, one in the bridge position, the other in the middle position. Each pickup has its own Volume control, while they both share a Tone control.

The bass has a Butterscotch Blonde finish, and the body is fitted with a three-ply black pickguard. The fingerboard has a gloss finish, while the hardware is made of chrome.

The main features of the J&D JB Vintage 1975 BSB, Butterscotch Blonde include:

  • 1970s 'JB'-style bass guitar
  • Alder body
  • Bold-on maple neck
  • Bound maple fingerboard with gloss finish
  • 2 x 'J'-style pickups
  • 2 x Volume controls, 1 x Tone control
  • Chrome hardware
  • Butterscotch Blonde finish with a 3-ply black pickguard

Review:
This bass is just incredible for the price. I already own several other (much more expensive) basses and have played Fender MIM Jazz and P basses and tried out the Squier VM Jazz bass which I guess is the equivalent of the J&D. I prefer the J&D to the MIMs and Squier. The body and neck finishes are very good, the pickups sound like jazz pickups should. Surprisingly the bridge and tuners appear fine and quite sturdy. Time will tell whether they will stand up to heavy gigging. This is the first guitar that I have purchased from new where the intonation was spot on out of the box. The only complaint I would have is that the fret edges are a little sharp and I know this has been pointed out by others. A fine file should take care of that. A hidden gem and a real bargain.

Review:
I must say I'm impressed with this guitar for the money. It arrived very quickly, was well packed and was actually in tune when I unwrapped it! The fit and finish was good, I was expecting the fret ends to be sharp, but they weren't. It's not a lightweight bass, but not overly heavy either, the neck is very playable and slim.
The only thing I had to do was lower the action to how I like it, low....this is easily done with the tools provided, I haven't yet had to adjust the truss rod as the measurements seem fine.
The only thing I can say against the guitar is that visually, the one I received seemed to have the neck slightly out of line, meaning the G string was closer to the edge of the fretboard than the E string was where the neck joins the body, maybe that's normal? Apart from that the guitar plays very well, no buzzing, no rattling and the controls and pick-ups worked well, would I recommend this guitar to a friend? Yes, I certainly would )

Review:
Bass arrived double boxed and well protected.
The colour and finish on the body is excellent , as is the bound gloss neck.
The bridge and tuners are budget items, (as expected on a bass at this price)
they all work as they should. pick ups and electrics all work fine.
The action can be set very low if required with no unwanted fret buzz.
The neck is nice and slim just like a jazz should be.
The only thing i could fault would be the edge of the frets, they were quite sharp
and needed filing to make the bass more comfortable to play.
The strings supplied on the bass are roundwound J and D own brand.
The bass plays and sounds as good as any instrument costing 2 or 3 times this price.
All in all a very nice bass at a great price. i have been playing bass for over 40 years
and have not had any problems using this bass on stage.

Review:
Well made instrument flawed by poor finishing to frets, a relatively simple fix, and a blister in the finish at the point where the bridge saddle unit is affixed to the body, not fixable. However, for the purchase cost represents good value. Reasonable neck action, out of the box requiring only marginal feteling with supplied tools, coupled with a slim neck will make it a very playable instrument. Looking forward to using it and fear it might displace other more expensive basses I own as the go-to instrument.

Absolutely flawless perfectly made superb quality plays straight out of the box great sound an unbelievable price, get one much better than any epiphone of squire, just one tiny downside I don't particularly like seeing the wood through the colour, go and get one!
