The PRS P22 Electric Guitar is Paul Reed Smith’s first piezo-equipped solid body electric guitar. Just as you’d expect from PRS Guitars, the P-22 features high quality tone woods including a figured maple top, mahogany back, Pattern Regular Mahogany Neck with a 22 fret (as you’d figure from the name) rosewood fingerboard.
The PRS P22’s main focal point is the PRS/LR Baggs piezo system, previously only found on PRS’s hollowbody models. This redesigned system keeps the same circuit design as the existing system, giving the P22 the same acoustic and electric tone as hollow body guitars, but with a 60% smaller system, allowing it to comfortably in this solid body guitar.
The PRS P-22 is loaded with uncovered 53/10 humbucking pickups providing warm vintage sounding tones. The 53/10’s coil wire is made on the same machine that supplied legendary guitar makers in the fifties, meaning they sound just as big as fifties guitar, but with a sweeter high end.
The Paul Reed Smith P22 Electric Guitar features the popular V12 Finish - a very thin, hard, and clear finish that will not crack or react with thinners. It can only be describes as ‘halfway between acrylic and nitro’ with a classic feel, making new instruments’ finish feel like old instruments.
