PGX24/SM86 Wireless Microphone System description:
The Shure PGX 24/86 Wireless Microphone System. Delivers studio quality sound, ideal for lead and backup vocals.
The Shure PGX 24/86 is part of the Shure PGX Series of wireless microphone systems. They combine the convenience of single touch remote channel setup with the reliability of a diversity UHF design. Created for active musicians and presenters who also manage their own sound, Shure PGX Wireless improves your performance and simplifies your setup. Innovations such as automatic frequency selection and automatic transmitter setup make wireless quicker and completely worry-free. Channel and frequency settings are remotely synchronized from the transmitter to the receiver via infrared. PGX systems now feature Shure’s patented Audio Reference Companding, delivering the crystal clear sound quality that pro audio engineers trust.
The PGX SM86 Handheld System is ideal for vocal use in stage performances, presentations, television, broadcasting, video, film, and sound reinforcement. This system includes the PGX4 receiver, PGX2 handheld transmitter with SM86 microphone capsule, clip and case.
The PGX4 receiver operates over an 18MHz UHF bandwidth (846 - 865 MHz) with the flexibility of selecting up to 90 UHF frequencies. It is possible to run 9 of these systems simultaneously with their own channel selections. The diversity design enables dual internal receiver circuits to compete for the strongest possible reception, minimising noise and RF interference. Featuring Auto Frequency Selection and Auto Sync functionality, the system scans the wireless landscape instantly identifying a clear channel and then automatically syncs the transmitter with the receiver frequency via an infrared link. The rear panel has both XLR and 1/4 inch phone outputs.
The PGX2 handheld transmitter includes the SM86 a unidirectional (cardioid) condenser vocal microphone for professional use in live performance. An extremely rugged microphone, the SM86 withstands the rigors of touring while delivering studio-quality sound. The tailored frequency response of the SM86 reproduces vocals with clarity. A cardioid pickup pattern isolates the main sound source while minimizing unwanted background noise. The built-in three-point shock mount minimizes handling noise, and a two-stage pop filter reduces wind and breath "pop" noise. On the PGX2 body, a 2-position input level switch adjusts input level and reduces noise if the signal overloads. The transmitter operates up to 8 hours on 2 AA-size batteries.
