The Gopichand is a traditional Indian string instrument with a distinctive sound. There is a peculiar bending of the pitch as the two legs are squeezed together by the left hand while the right hand plucks the string. This is a rhythmic rather than a melodic instrument and it often accompanies the dhol and tabla.
