FXpansion BFD is a high-quality acoustic drum module. It concentrates on impeccably recorded multi-velocity acoustic drumkits, with some crucial differences to using a general-purpose sampler with sample-CDs, or using pre-recorded acoustic drum loops. See SOS summary review in DV News.

BFD gives you your own drum studio,with complete control of 7 real drum kits plus additional hats, snares and cymbals. Every drum is recorded from eleven different mics positioned around the kit and room so you can mix your drums by blending the mic sources just like in a real studio.

The FXpansion BFD 8-Bit Kit is a discontinued add-on pack for the BFD software drum module system, offering lo-fi flavours to your drum productions. This old-skool collection of drums, cymbals, hi-hats, percussion and electronics features dozens of unique, vintage, handmade and exotic kit pieces, all captured by a strange and wonderful array of microphones. The 8 Bit Kit expansion also includes original recordings made directly from selected vintage analog drum machines of the 70s and 80s. To further extend BFD’s versatility, these can be layered with acoustic sounds from the original BFD or XFL pack to create rich, hybrid kicks and snares – a popular production trick of today.

Both FXpansion software titles do not include the external cardboard boxes - they are the environmentally friendly versions. However, BFD is a full version including manual.
