The Universal Acoustic Mercury Bass Trap is perfectly suited for installation
in larger public spaces. It is made of Basotect, which is a lightweight material demonstrating excellent acoustic properties and is used for architectural applications when a higher degree of Fire resistance is required typically in large areas or public building spaces. Class-O surface as defined in paragraph A12B of Building Regulations document B achieves BS476 part 7 Class 1 and B476 part 6 Pass.
The open cell surface of the foam ensures that sound waves can
enter the cell structure unimpeded. There, the sound energy is decreased
as a result of friction between the repositioned air particles and the angular
cell struts that make up Basotect G. The reduction of this sound energy
and conversion into heat energy is referred to as sound absorption.
