Privia Pro PX-5S Stage Piano description:

The Casio Privia Pro PX-5S takes the stage pianos category to the next level with its amazing sound quality, great performance characteristics and lightweight design that makes it extremely portable.

Some of the features of the Privia Pro PX-5S include tone editing, insert effects, MIDI controller functionality, 88 Tri-Sensor Scaled Hammer Action II keys and a weight of only 24lbs (10.8kg), making this a formidable stage piano from Casio.

At the core of the PX-5S is Casio’s proprietary AiR sound source which gives phenomenal realism, expression and detail for grand piano sounds. Within the PX-5S, the functionality of AiR has been expanded to give incredible fidelity and control over other instrument tones and effects, and has 256 notes of polyphony. In addition to the award winning grand piano sounds, there are loads of new sounds like classic electric piano, harpsichord and clavinet sounds. The PX-5S can also be split into four zones and has four knobs and six sliders to be used in conjunction with this feature. Each zone can control an internal sound, an external MIDI device or both simultaneously.

The PX-5S includes Hex Layer tones with real-time filters and has four programmable arpeggiators and multitrack phrase sequencing. Each zone can be programmed to use an arpeggiator or trigger a phrase. Unique to the PX-5S is that the arpeggiator can be used to trigger parameter changes, with or without pressing notes. There are 100 arpeggiator presets with space for another 100 of your own, and 100 phrase presets with space for 900 of your own.

Stage settings allows users to have 100 completely user configurable stage settings which are saved in 10 banks of 10 settings each. The PX-5S allows for expressive control via its modulation & pitch bend wheels, four knobs, six sliders and two footswitch inputs. Each knob, slider or pedal can control two parameters at the same time. Pedal inputs are very configurable and include envelope response. MIDI over class compliant USB makes it extremely easy to connect the PX-5S with your host system and is supported on both Mac and PC.

The Casio Privia Pro PX-5S features include:

Review:
Wonderful keyboard, the feel of a piano is well emulated. Excellent sounds, fantastic synthesis capabilities and light weight considering the power it packs in. All of this at a very low price.
I use this not only to compose with but as a midi controller in my studio and it is encouraging me to finally learn to play properly!

I like it very much, could be better piano sound, a little plasticky in mid range, and I really miss half-damper function, otherwise great control, good piano action keyboard with nice touch on keys. Recommended

Review:
I have had my PX-5s for a few months now long enough to begin to know just how good it is. I say 'begin to know' because, unlike other keyboards which gradually reveal their limitations to you as you get to know them, this one only reveals more and more possibilities. Everything can be changed, which means never having to settle for a sound which isn't quite right.

The design is good and well thought out. It works extremely well for live performances. It is complex and takes a bit of effort to get to grips with, but is well worth the effort. In any case, the support which Casio provides on their forum and in their user group is unbelievably good. All questions are answered, usually within minutes!

The keyboard is lightweight and feels lovely to play. I really haven't got anything negative to say about it at all. Very very pleased with this purchase.

Review:
The instrument sounds Piano, Electric Piano, Organ are excellent and so realistic, particularly piano. The synth sounds are gorgeous. The realtime controls at the left hand end add so much fun and control. The keyboard action are feel are exactly what I like fast, nice weight. If you are into arpeggios they are great too.

Most enjoyable keyboard I have owned.

Review:
This is an extremely impressive stage piano for the price. For starters you get a quality weighted keyboard with a great piano sound. But it also offers a huge wealth of other sounds, including EPs (with amp sim), Organs, Strings, and Synths. The 6 sliders and 4 rotary controls allow you to tweak most sounds to taste, and also make this excellent as a master MIDI controller. The whole thing is surprisingly light. The USB pen drive input is also a nice touch, allowing you to import patches, and also make WAV recordings of your playing, which is very useful as a quick way of storing musical ideas you come up with.

There's a great online community around this keyboard, with software, patches, tutorial videos and even a facebook user group you can access.

As for negative points, I think the controls aren't as intuitive as they could be - it does take a bit of time to learn your way around. A larger display with soft-buttons would help in this regard. Some functions like master transpose require you to navigate into a sub-menu to modify.

I've only had the privia pro px-5s a couple of days but my god its just fantastic. Originally i wanted the xw-p1 but that was proving hard to get hold of. I watched a lot of videos and reviews on youtube, and the sounds it was pumping out were great i must say that some of the sounds i've listened to on youtube i can't reproduce on the px-5s yet, there are updates you can get but not done that yet.Sound quality is excellent the build quality is superb especially the keys they really do feel like and look like ivory.Casio are very much underrated go out and buy one.I run mine through my sub woofer using headphone jack.Buy the way DV247 were excellent.

Review:
The touch of the keyboard is excellent, replicating the feel of a far more expensive machine. The ability to layer up to 4 patches with a huge polyphony and controlling each patch easily while performing using the sliders is just the ticket. VERY happy with this product !!! and it's light !!!! very light 10.8Kg ..no more strained arm and back muscles carrying a stage piano around venues
