Dark Energy II Analogue Synthesizer description:

The Doepfer Dark Energy II is an analogue monophonic synthesizer, with a USB and MIDI interface. Incorporating a one knob per function setup, the Dark Energy II is a tactile synth with powerful features to let you really get inside the machine. Being semi-modular in nature, a whole host of different sounds can be achieved using plenty of sources to modulate different parameters using patch cables – just like its bigger modular brothers. Housed in a rugged black metal case with wooden cheeks, the Dark Energy is a compact and powerful addition to any studio or DAW

  • Sawtooth-based analog VCO
  • Manual tuning knob

Review:
Having spent some time reading the reviews on this product, it was still very pleasing when I first hooked it up to my system. Wonderful sound, controls not as small as some reviews suggest. I have large hands and manage to turn knobs and flick switches without worrying about knocking a neighbour. This DE will be used in conjunction with my Dark Time, the perfect partner. Did I mention it sounds really nice. Good value and good build quality.

Classic doepfer sound and build quality, good connectivity and a built in MIDI to CV interface as well. What's not to love? Thoroughly recommended. Big tick. Gold star.

Review:
Fantastic machine but not one I'd recommend to a beginner in mono analog synthesis. Bought it because of all those in and out connection possibilities. Not having presets is a big plus to me too. Took quite some time (a couple of hours) for me to get familiar enough with the controls to get a decent sound but now I've had it controlled by and controlling a few different things (simultaneously) A distinctive machine good for drone, blip and ping. Probably more but haven't yet had it a week.
