MP-11 Stage Piano description:

The Kawai MP-11 is the newest model of the popular MP-series. Just like with a Grand Piano, the keys of the new Grand-Feel keyboard pivot on a balance pin, delivering the incredibly realistic play feeling. A weighted hammer mechanic is graded to imitate the heaver bass and lighter treble sections of its acoustic colleague.

The KAWAI concert grand was meticulously sampled for the KAWAI MP-11. The Harmonic Imaging Technology perfectly delivers these sounds and allows for very nuance rich, dynamic playing. Among the large selection of piano sounds you are guaranteed to find the right sound for any style. Additionally you can also adjustment various parameters of the individual sounds.

The E-piano section comprises of natural, organic vintage sounds, to which various effects can be applied before they are sent to the integrated amp simulator.

Naturally the KAWAI MP-11 features the various MIDI functions of a master keyboard. While it's simple usability makes it an ideal stage piano as well as in the studio. A large LCD display and the 4 freely assignable controls allow various parameters to be adjusted in real-time.

Via the USB connections the KAWAI MP-11 can be connected to a computer while also allowing data to be stored on a USB stick. Making it possible to save you individual live setup and access it at any time.

Review:
Arrived promptly but faulty. Would not power on - not something I would expect from Kawai. Customer service good although 2 week wait until product back in stock.

Review:
Just received my MP11 yesterday and it is fair to say I have fallen in love. The action is a thing of wonder, allowing me to play with confidence and speed. The sounds are excellent, with the concert grand a particular favourite. If you are after a serious stage piano and don't want 10 million sounds you will never use this is the one!

There are no words to describe this piece of kit, it is simply amazing. Sound, playability, looks, workmanship, all mixed together to produce in my opinion, the greatest piano keyboard ever produced!

Action
Better than any digital piano I've ever played. As good as my Yamaha YUS-5 upright, and in some ways better. Played alongside the Nord Piano 2 HA88, RD700NX, MP10 and the MP11 is in a different class. Gives control and responsiveness like I've only really felt in a (well conditioned) £15K+ grand piano.

Sounds
Sounds are ... fine. Bought this over the VPC1 because I will occasionally gig with it. For gigging, the sounds will stand up just fine, and cut through the mix; it's a stage piano, and it feels like that's what they've been designed for. Playing lots of solo piano at home, well to do this justice you'd want to hook it up to a good software piano library.

As a midi controller
I've been using Eastwest Pianos platinum, but also have Ivory 2 and NI The gentleman. In all cases the velocity curves needed only a tiny bit of fiddling (in the software) to be just about perfect. Hooked up to EW platinum it really feels incredibly close to playing a 50K piano.

Summary
This isn't a stage piano. If you're gigging all the time, get a Nord - the sounds are way better. It _is_ the world's best piano midi controller that you *can also use to gig* (if you have a forklift truck), because it has a few fairly decent onboard sounds. As a master controller with added gigging ability, it's the best thing I've ever seen.
