The Korg M50-61 is a synth workstation that is packed with the latest sounds Korg are renowned for delivering. It is lightweight in design which means it can fill a number of roles, whether for live performance, band practice or as your main studio synth. The M50-61 uses Korg's latest EDS (Enhanced Definition Synthesis) sound generation system giving each voice a powerful oscillator section that can process up to eight stereo multi-samples per voice. With 256mb of ROM, the Korg has a huge sample capacity. There are 1077 multi-samples and 1609 drum samples, not to mention 608 programs and 32 drum kits. All of these sounds have have been created and edited using the best recording equipment to give you a huge amount of choice, from real acoustic instruments to vintage synths. Combine the drum track with the powerful arpeggiators and it could be the perfect catalyst to get you developing fresh ideas.
The Korg uses a semi-weighted ‘natural touch’ 61-key keyboard to give you the feel of a real keyboard. Instead of being just a computer peripheral, the keyboard can lend a human feel when inputting MIDI for your music. Such an advantage is particularly useful when inputting drums.
Modern stand-alone workstations are developed to work with computer software for those who prefer to tweak their sounds on their DAW and the M50-61 offers plug-in software. Furthermore the Korg can act as a plug-in instrument for your DAW which can take the strain off your computer. The M50-61 has a TouchView interface where everything can be operated from. All parameters, programs and editing functions are accessed via the touchscreen rather than through knobs and buttons. As a result the Korg workstation has a simple layout. USB connectivity is present and data is stored courtesy of an SD card slot which can take cards up to 2GB.
