Whilst I have been doing sound work for many years, I am new to DMX, and I purchased this as a basic controller in order to get up to speed with DMX for a particular upcoming gig. I was originally going to purchase a more expensive controller, but my needs reduced so settled for this one. I received it yesterday and have so far spent a couple of hours playing with it. This controller is of solid metal construction with good definite action on the switches. The sliders however are both slow in their response and imprecise in their output. They tend to jump with most of the action happening in the upper half of the slider movement. Some actions did not work as expected in that if I had set the sliders before switching on a scanner, nothing happened. I had to switch the scanner on before setting the sliders, which I found odd. However, this may be standard on DMX controllers. I am a man and therefore tend to avoid reading instructions, but needed to do so in this case. The instructions are not great, but I eventually worked out how to programme scenes and chases within about half an hour without exercising too many brain cells. As an introduction to the world of DMX for lighting where precise control is not necessary, for the price this is controller good value for money. I have marked down the ranking primarily on slider precision.
