Review:
I already own the previous version of this mic, which offers good value, build & sound quality. Now at £7 less than the original comes the Fame MS58 MkII, which I bought for comparison purposes. The sound of the MS58 MkII is a little brighter than the original, which may or not be a good thing, according to personal preference. I find it a little too trebly, but this can be adjusted with a bit of EQ. Otherwise, it's just as good as before good build, fine sound & even better value than previously. Costs have been reduced in three areas there's no XLR cable, the mic comes in a sturdy box rather than a plastic carry case & it doesn't have gold-plated XLR connectors - all very minor considerations, considering it's about one-fifth of the price of the Shure mic on which it is clearly modelled. Like its predecessor, the MS58 MkII does not have an on/off switch. I've used it for speech work & DJing & it gives a very respectable performance. Well worth the asking price, in my opinion.
