Beta 57A Dynamic Instrument Microphone description:

The Shure BETA 57A is a supercardioid dynamic mic with High Output Neodymium element for instrument applications.

The Shure BETA 57A is excellent for acoustic and electric instruments as well as for vocals, the extremely versatile Beta 57A dynamic microphone provides optimal warmth and presence. The Beta 57A maintains a true supercardioid pattern throughout its frequency range. This insures high gain before feedback, maximum isolation from other sound sources, and minimum off-axis tone coloration. A completely new grille design lets you take better advantage of proximity effect. The Beta 57A is an exceptionally versatile microphone. Typical applications include drums, guitar amplifiers, brass, woodwinds and vocals.

Shure BETA 57A main features include:

  • Tailored frequency response provides drums, guitars, vocals, and horns with studio quality sound
  • Uniform supercardioid pattern for high gain-before- feedback and superior rejection of off-axis sound
  • Hardened steel mesh grille that facilitates use of proximity effect and resists wear and abuse
  • Neodymium magnet for high signal- to-noise ratio output
  • Advanced pneumatic shock mount system that minimizes transmission of mechanical noise and vibration
  • Frequency response: 50 to 16,000 Hz

Pros: +
Bought mainly for live lead male vocals as i prefer the sound rejection of the beta 57 The higher output of the beta models are noticeable which is good for smaller venues when the PA isn't quite up to it. i prefer the design of the slim beta 57 to the bulbous 58 grills but that is just personal taste. Since then has been used on GTR cabs/Snare for recording and sounds great. Would rate 10/10 for sound quality but without comparing it to other mics couldn't, still sounds great however.

Cons: -
none at this price point
