Shure PGX24/SM58 Wireless Vocal System, T1, Channel 70

PGX24/SM58 Wireless Vocal System, T1, Channel 70 description:

The Shure PGX Series wireless microphone systems combine the convenience of single touch remote channel setup with the reliability of a diversity UHF design. Created for active musicians and presenters who also manage their own sound, Shure PGX Wireless improves your performance and simplifies your setup. Innovations such as automatic frequency selection and automatic transmitter setup make wireless quicker and completely worry-free. Channel and frequency settings are remotely synchronized from the transmitter to the receiver via infrared. PGX systems now feature Shure’s patented Audio Reference Companding, delivering the crystal clear sound quality that pro audio engineers trust.

The PGX24/SM58 Handheld System is ideal for vocal use in stage performances, presentations, television, broadcasting, video, film, and sound reinforcement. This system includes the PGX4 receiver, PGX2 handheld transmitter with SM58 microphone capsule, clip and case.

The PGX4 receiver operates over an 18MHz UHF bandwidth (846 - 865 MHz) with the flexibility of selecting up to 90 UHF frequencies. It is possible to run 9 of these systems simultaneously with their own channel selections. The diversity design enables dual internal receiver circuits to compete for the strongest possible reception, minimising noise and RF interference. The rear panel has both XLR and 1/4 inch phone outputs.

The PGX2 handheld transmitter includes the SM58 cardioid microphone head. The cardioid polar pattern reduces pick up at the off-axis sections of the capsule, reducing noise and providing higher gain-before-feedback response. A 2-position input level switch adjusts input level and reduces noise if the signal overloads. The transmitter operates up to 8 hours on 2 AA-size batteries.

PGX24/SM58 Features:

  • SM58 frequency response tailored for vocals, with brightened midrange and bass roll-off
  • The Frequency Agile UHF design provides up to 90 selectable UHF frequencies that operate on an 18MHz UHF bandwidth
  • Diversity Reception system uses twin receiver circuits to minimise noise and drop out caused by RF interference
  • Hi-quality sound with quick and easy setup using infrared remote synchronization of channel and frequency status
  • Use 9 systems simultaneousy within the 846 - 865 Mhz range for big events
  • PGX4 has XLR and unbalanced 1/4 inch jack audio outputs
  • PGX2 includes mute switch and battery power warning lights - 8 hours battery life from 2 x AA 1.5v alkaline batteries
  • Rugged carry case and batteries and mic clip included with this microphone

SM58 Specifications:

  • Type: Dynamic (moving coil)
  • Frequency Response: 50 to 15,000 Hz
  • Polar Pattern: Unidirectional (cardioid), rotationally symmetrical about microphone axis, uniform with frequency
  • Sensitivity (at 1,000 Hz Open Circuit Voltage): –54.5 dBV/Pa (1.85 mV) 1 Pa = 94 dB SPL

PGX System Specifications:

  • Working Range: 100m (300 ft.) Note: actual range depends on RF signal absorption, reflection, and interference
  • Audio Frequency Response +/– 2 dB: Minimum: 45 Hz, Maximum: 15 kHz (Overall system frequency depends on microphone element.)
  • Total Harmonic Distortion (Ref. +/– 33 kHz deviation, 1 kHz tone): 0.5%, typical
  • Dynamic Range: 100 dB A-weighted
  • Operating Temperature Range: –18 degrees C (0 degrees F) to +50 degrees C (+122 degrees F) Note: battery characteristics may limit this range
  • Transmitter Audio Polarity: Positive pressure on microphone diaphragm (or positive voltage applied to tip of WA302 phone plug) produces positive voltage on pin 2 (with respect to pin 3 of low impedance output) and the tip of the high impedance 1/4-inch output

PGX2 Specifications:

  • Audio Input Level: +2 dBV maximum at -10dB position, -8 dBV maximum at 0dB position
  • Gain Adjustment Range: 10dB
  • RF Transmitter Output: 30 mW maximum (dependent on applicable country regulations)

  • Weight: 290 grams (10.2 oz.) without batteries
  • Housing: Moulded PC/ABS handle and battery cup
  • Power Requirements: 2 AA size alkaline or rechargeable batteries
  • Battery Life: Around 8 hours (alkaline)

PGX4 Specifications:

  • Dimensions: 40 mm H x 181 mm W x 104 mm D (1.6 x 7.125 x 4.1 in.)
  • Weight: 327 g (11.5 oz.)
  • Housing: ABS
  • Audio Output Level (Ref. +/– 33 kHz deviation with 1kHz tone): XLR connector (into 600 Ohm load): –19 dBV, 1/4 inch connector (into 3000 Ohm load): –5 dBV
  • Output Impedance: XLR connector: 200 Ohm, 1/4 inch connector: 1kOhm
  • XLR output: Impedance balanced, Pin 1: Ground (cable shield), Pin 2: Audio, Pin 3: No Audio
  • Sensitivity: –105 dBm for 12 dB SINAD, typical
  • Image Rejection: 70 dB, typical
