Customer Reviews

Pros: +
This is such an iconic microphone, even people who are not musicians recognise it by the description alone. It's a bit of a posers mike, but in the best possible way, and stands out from the usual crowd in an unmistakable way, the only time I've been complemented on my microphone!

Cons: -
It's a bit on the heavy side, but that's because it's properly made. Being so large it covers your face when in use (not always a bad thing), but these are really just observations, not criticisms.

Pros: +
Excellent natural sound quality. Perfect for live performances, and surprisingly good in the studio. The classic design has been brought up to date. Chose it for a specific performer, and she will never go back to another mic again.

Cons: -
Where the mic lead plugs in is very close to the mounting point, so some plugs are a little difficult to push into place, especially with mic stands with locking nuts. Removing the nut solves the problem.

Pros: +
Produces a clear, true bright sound. Good reproduction in voice quality. Exactly what I needed for retro sound and appearance.

Cons: -
Need to sing directly facing mic - not as forgiving as sure58 less bass sound not so mellow in tone. Quite heavy ensure you have a good mic stand.

I have used SM58's for years - no problems with them at all - bought this for one obvious reason - the look. It delivers - good solid construction, looks exactly as it should and I love the blue lining (not to everyone's taste I know). Heavy so needs a good solid stand. Haven't gigged with it yet but have no worries from rehearsals - can't say that it is different to the 58, but at least as good. Chose it over the other 55 because I thought the on/off switch a bit naff, and as I said, I was buying it for the look above all.
