Why use a dynamic mic?
Dynamic microphones are effectively speakers in reverse, employing a diaphragm (cone) and a magnet to produce an electrical signal when moved by sound. A dynamic mic is far less responsive than condenser microphone and therefore it is possible to reject more background noise and reduce the chances of a feedback being caused by the vocal playing out through the speakers and back into the microphone in an infinite loop.
What is a super-cardioid pattern?
The diaphragm within a microphone can be designed to focus, in varying concentrations, toward the front. The super-cardioid pattern concentrates heavily on the front (described as “on axis”) and rejects a large amount of sound from the side and almost all sound from the rear (these areas are known as “off axis”). In conjunction with the design of the body, the capsule and the direction the diaphragm is facing, the MP-75 is designed to respond almost entirely from the top/front.
