Arturia Minibrute News: After years of gracing us of great plug-ins emulation of revered hardware synths and pushing the limits of hybrid technology, Arturia have announced their first 100 percent analogue synthesizer – the Minibrute.
If the name is an indication to go by, the Minibrute promises to deliver a really powerful, raw, and sometimes abrasive but definitely warm analogue sound. This seems to be confirmed by the incredibly powerful Steiner Parker 2-pole filter, and a design reminiscent of the incredibly popular SH-101 featuring one multi-wave VCO with a waveform mixer allowing several waveforms to be mixed together and a Sub Oscillator for thunderous bass lines. Speaking of bass lines, the Minibrute features an Arpeggio, allowing to easily create those throbbing bass patterns or haunting trance leads.
Building on years of understanding synthesizers, Arturia has focused on the immediate pleasures offered by tweaking an analogue synth and kept a one-function-per-knob design but has added some interesting unique features. For a start we can find on the Minibrute, intriguing names such as Metalizer, Ultrasaw and Brute Factor. Metalizer adds extreme triangle harmonics giving (as its name suggests) a more metallic sound white Ultrasaw generates massive sawtooth waveforms for an unbeatable buzz that is sure to cut through any speakers. Finally Brute factor appears to be a cross-modulating process that simply adds a subtle distortion or destroys completely the sound.
Add to this an extremely flexible modulation routing architecture an LFO and a Vibrato LFO and it’s easy to see how powerful the Minibrute will be.
