DeepMind 12 is Here

Published: Thursday 29 December 2016

Behringer's DeepMind 12 Arrives!

Finally Behringer’s much anticipated synthesizer has been unleashed on the world! We have had to keep quiet about this beast of a synth for a while now – whilst some members of our staff have desperately wanted to get their hands on the keyboard and try out what promises to be an impressive and sort-after instrument. So what makes this synthesizer so different? Among the first things to pique the interest of musicians was the rumoured price – perhaps half what you would expect to pay for a synthesizer with this kind of tool set. It opens a door to a world of true polyphonic analogue synthesis that many could not have previously afforded to get involved in. Of course, price alone is only relevant if the item in question is desirable – and this is when people started to get excited. The DeepMind 12 has a feature list that is hard to believe, read on to discover some of its secrets…

Behringer’s DeepMind 12 is a true analogue, 12-voice polyphonic synthesizer with digital control. It features 2x oscillators and LFOs per voice, 3x ADSR envelope generators, an 8-channel modulation matrix, a 32-step sequencer, 4x digital effects engines that can be bypassed and an editor app for tablet making the synthesizer controllable via wifi. The LFOs cover 7x waveform shapes, and include key sync, MIDI sync and envelope auto-triggering. Its signal paths are purely discrete analogue, and are based on legendary VCF and VCA designs, meaning creation of instantly recognisable patches are as easy as making something totally original. Four FX engines can be employed simultaneously, including options such as reverb, chorus, flanger, phaser and more. The list goes on – at this point it looks as though the DeepMind 12 is going to be in its own place in the industry for a while, a place occupied by many happy synthesists.

We have been lucky enough to receive a demonstration model of the Deepmind in our Romford store, so why not come down to the shop and find out what all the fuss is about?
