Fender American Special Stratocaster News: Fender has just released the new American Special Stratocaster series, an exciting new addition to their American range of strats. There are two models in the series, a maple neck version and a rosewood-necked HSS strat. Both have some exciting new features.
The American Special Strat sports an Alder body finished with gloss urethane. It is fitted with a 9.5” radius maple neck, jumbo frets and three formidable Texas Special single coil pickups. These pickups deliver loads of midrange punch whilst still offering spanky treble and tight bass thanks to the overwound Alnico V magnets. The 70’s style jumbo headstock is a neat addition and helps make this guitar stand out visually.
It’s other half, the American Special Series Stratocaster HSS has a rosewood fretboard and is fitted with Fender’s Atomic Humbucker in the bridge position, giving you plenty power to cut through and enough gain to achieve fat distorted tones. Both models boast a Vintage-Style Synchronized Tremolo. Colours available are 2-Color Sunburst or Candy Apple Red for the maple-necked model, and 3-Color Sunburst or Black for the HSS/Rosewood version.
Well spec’d, built to last and priced economically so as not to break the bank, the American Special Strat is, as Fender say, a “guitar for the times’.
