Fender American Special Telecaster News: The Fender American Special Telecaster, only just unveiled, enters the market in the gap between the Highway 1 and American Standard range of Fender guitars.
The American Special Telecater has proved a truly timeless design, and this one incorporates some modern tweaks like a 9.5” radius maple neck with jumbo frets. It should pack a punch, too, because although the urethane-finished alder body and maple neck combination are often used, the American Special Tele is loaded with Texas Special pickups. These overwound vintage-hot Alnico V pups have a distinct midsy bite which is only made better by the string-through-body design of the bridge and solid tonewood of the Telecaster.
You can get the US-made American Special Telecaster in Fender’s famous Olympic White or 3-Colour Sunburst finishes and at a price that should definitely suit your pocket. After all, Fender has dubbed the American Special Series, “Guitars for the times’.
