Fender Select Series Stratocaster and Telecaster News: The Fender Select series of guitars has been described as the company’s "top-of-the-production-line best", and certainly by the looks of them we can believe it.
An elegant blend of beautiful tonewoods and Fender's high attention to detail has resulted in the creation of five beautiful guitars and two basses, dubbed Fender Select. The entire range including the Fender Select Stratocaster and Select Carved Koa Top Telecaster features lovingly-figured tops with luxuriant finishes; figured, quarter-sawn maple necks and unique Fender Select pickups.
Fender Select Koa Telecaster Stands Out
One model that’s caught our attention in particular is the Fender Select Carved Koa Top Telecaster, looking utterly resplendent thanks to the finest pick of koa wood, finished in Sienna Edge Burst. Like all of the guitars in the range, it’s fitted with special Fender Select pickups, in this case the Select Telecaster neck and bridge pickups.
What’s particularly special is that along with the volume control and three-way switching that you’d expect on a Tele, you can either use the tone pot as normal or ‘dime’ it (turn the knob full to 10), which will create a no-load connection meaning that you’re getting raw pickup tone. It’s one of the most innovative, hassle-free and worthwhile ideas we’ve seen for a long time.
Other premium appointments include a modern c-shape flame maple neck with Bi-Flex truss rod and satin lacquer back finish; a rosewood fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets; white pearloid inlays and an American Telecaster bridge with American Standard bent steel saddles. It’s a decadent take on a player’s guitar that will look every bit as good as it sounds.
