Gibson Les Paul Standard News: The iconic shape of the Les Paul guitar is synonymous to rock music and has played by some of the most influential guitarists in history. The current Les Paul Standard has a few modern upgrades that help it stand head and shoulders above any competition. Re-designed in 2008, its improvements come from research and customer feedback, making the legacy of the Les Paul even stronger.

The Les Paul Standard now only has one neck carve: Asymmetrical - Thicker on the “thumb-side” and thinner on the “fingers’ side”, it is incredibly comfortable whether playing chords, riffs or screaming lead licks. Also, the tenon has been enlarged to increase the contact surface area between the neck and body, which means better tone and sustain. Speaking of which, the Les Paul has always been an incredibly hefty piece of wood to hold, but no more. The body is weight relieved. While you might think this has a negative effect on the tone, it doesn’t. In fact, with the new custom-made gold-plated potentiometers, the Standard now has increased clarity and bite.
The last few upgrades are just as interesting. Apart from the TonePro Locking Nashville Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar, locking Grover machine-heads and a locking Neutrik jack input, each Les Paul Standard guitar is set up using the revolutionary PLEK System - a computer controlled robot that machines the frets and sets up each guitar to an accuracy of one-hundredth of a millimetre. This ensures that every Les Paul Standard that leaves the Gibson USA factory is set up immaculately. Finished with the most beautiful book-matched flame maple and classic colours, the guitar doesn’t get much better than this. Get to your nearest DV Guitar store for a look!
