Gretsch guitars have been a little bit special from the beginning – and definitely different. The colours, the features and, of course, the sound have all blended together to provide a different kind of experience. No other guitar sounds, plays or looks quite like a Gretsch.
The company's fortunes have waxed and waned through the years as they have fallen in and out of fashion. All sorts of different ideas and gimmicks have come and gone. At the beginning of 2003 Gretsch began yet another new era as Fender Musical Instruments Corporation secured an agreement that gave them all control over the manufacturing and distribution of Gretsch. Fender immediately went to work addressing some longstanding issues that Gretsch players had and quickly began introducing a full range of new and improved models. But for more than 50 years one thing has linked all Gretsch guitars; that Great Gretsch Sound.
