StudioMaster Horizon 2000 Series News: Studio Master has just announced that their new Horizon 2000 series consoles – to be debuted at NAMM 2012 – in an aim to provide a comprehensive spec for everything from solo gigs to installations. Depending on the number of inputs and style of console you’ll need, there’s the Studiomaster Horizon 2012 or the Studiomaster Horizon 2018.

Whichever you choose, both have been designed as incredibly portable consoles – an attachable shoulder strap makes carrying the lightweight aluminium-paddled design a doddle, and there’s an included poly-carbonate cover to keep everything safely under wraps.
The spec of both consoles is equally accommodating for engineers, performers and venues, with 1000 Watts into four ohms per amp channel. The Horizon 2012 is a 12-input mixer for standalone/rackmount use. There are four aux sends per channel, which will already have run through the Studiomaster 3-band EQ and VMS optical compressor, so you’re treated to measured, high-quality audio across the board. There’s a combined stereo/mic input channel adding an extra three mic channels, for good measure.
FX of course is not going to be lacking on Studiomaster products, and true to form there are 128 DSP programs waiting for you to add your boomy reverbs, your spacey delays and a lot more.
It gets more exciting to note that you can flick three-stage amp between stereo, split and monitor. The split function splits the out between mix (left) and aux (right), which is helpful if you’re planning on recording while sending a live feed at the same time. The mix out is helped on its way by twin nine-band EQs.
The Horizon 2018, as you’d expect, benefits from the six extra inputs over the 2012, but otherwise has the same impressive spec, so either way you’ll find comprehensive effects, significantly powerful routing and mixing options and a huge amount of power, all in a convenient, portable shell.
