The Korg Monotron DUO and Korg Monotron Delay: While we’ve all got a wish list, there are at least two products that almost everyone will want in the new year – the Korg Monotron DUO and the Korg Monotron DELAY, which are small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, but powerful and diverse enough to add a little bit of quirky style to your performances and recordings.

Monotron Duo: Two Synths for Double the Fun
The Monotron DUO Analogue Ribbon Synthesiser is packing the Mono/Poly X-MOD cross modulation circuit with an enhanced scale-switching function. So now, you can play a miscellany of different sounds through major, minor, chromatic or ‘open’/off scale configurations, which means you’ll always be in tune when you’re performing with other musicians.
If you want to integrate this further into your rig, you can also take any audio source into the Monotron DUO or Monotron Delay with the aux input jack, whether it be guitar, digital player or Kaossilator even, and then put that signal through the filter and Classic Korg Filtering options
Monotron DELAY: Play with Time and Space
The Korg Monotron DELAY has been modified from the familiar ‘tron format to allow spacey swooshing and deep, rich echo trails.
With the MS-10/20’s VCF circuit lurking inside the pocket-sized Monotron DELAY, you’ll find triangle and square wave LFOs, which can be edited with Rate and Intensity controls and finally shaped with a ‘trimpot’ (this changes your square pulse-width or your triangle shape accordingly).
With four octaves to play with, you’ll got more swoosh for your money, and the keys are even designed to glow under blacklighting – it might be a bit of a gimmick, but it’s a cool one!
It seems a shame not to get the two as a double, but either way you’ll end up with an excellent new soundscape in your sonic arsenal, whether it be with the Korg Monotron DUO or Korg Monotron DELAY.
