Line 6 James Tyler Variax News: Line 6 have won the MIA 2011 Guitar of the Year award (more..) for the JTV-69. The Variax was a forerunner in modern guitar modelling technology, and has carried the flag for eight years... until now. The brand new James Tyler Variax modelling guitar has been developed in collaboration with James Tyler, the acclaimed luthier whos guitars are played by the likes of Mike Landau and Steve Lukather.

With improved Variax technology and a much-improved control layout, the range consists of three brand new designs: the JTV 59 (singlecut), JTV 69 (st-style) and the JTV89 (Shred-tastic 24-fret monster). They are built in Korea, with the possibility of U.S.-built version to follow. The feature that puts the new James Tyler Variax in the "serious guitar for your money" slot is the ability to switch to real James Tyler-designed pickups. When used in conjunction with a Pod X3 you will be able to split the modelled and mag-pickup outputs and blend them however you like.

The previous incarnation of the Variax required a bulky 6-cell battery pack or phantom power supplied by a power unit pedal, but the design gurus have fitted the new JTV with a rechargeable lithium battery which offers 12 hours of playing time! James Tyler has also included a seperate control for alternate tunings on the new JTV Variax guitars for easy access to your favourite tuning. Everything from DADGAD to Blues-G tunings as well as a super easy to access virtual capo funtion make the new James Tyler Variax electric guitar an absolute must-have!
