Sean Halley really shows off not only how playable the necks unarguably are, but we’re also given a clear idea of the wealth of tone and tuning options you can invoke simply by using the logical, immediately accessible controls.
All of the Line 6 JTV guitars are capable of generating 28 different modelled tones, taking a signal from a custom LR Baggs piezo as well as the magnetic pickups. There are 11 tunings to swich between, and on top of that you can add a ‘virtual capo’ for good measure, making for a huge variety of potential extra tuning options. All this is set on to an alder body, maple neck and rosewood board.
We were utterly blown away by quite how real the tonal variety sounded, and now natural the guitar played even under the fingers of a seasoned pro – you really have to hear it for yourself to get an idea of exactly what the three Line 6 James Tyler Variax models are capable of. We suspect that much like us, you’ll want one for yourself – the only question now is which model?
