The Sonar V-Studio 700 is a finely-tuned and tightly-integrated hardware and software system designed by Cakewalk and Roland. However, the component parts of the V-Studio 700 can also be purchased independently offering ultimate flexibility.
You may wish to double your I/O and Fantom Synth capabilities by purchasing an additional VS-700R with your VS-700 V-Studio. DV stores can offer very competitive V-Studio bundle deals.
I'm a Cubase user, should I consider the VS-700R or VS-700C?
Certainly. You may not be a Sonar 8 Producer user but you want a professional USB 2.0 audio interface so you may wish to consider the VS-700R on it's own. Alternatively, you have Cubase and your I/O but you want a serious control surface!

The VS-700C V-Studio Console offers broader ranging control and deeper editing and mixing functionality for SONAR than any control surface on the market today. Console control surface features 20 rotary encoders, 9 touch sensitive motorized faders, 70 buttons, an ACT/EQ/Send section,Transport, Jog/Shuttle, Surround Joystick, headphone outs and more. The forward thinking design of the Console includes on-surface T-Bar and control functions for popular EDIROL video & image equipment such as the Edirol DV7.
Cakewalk VS-700R V-Studio I/O
The VS-700R I/O module 20/24 audio interface (expandable to 40/48) provides the I/O, recording, and routing capabilities needed to handle any music production task. The I/O module cleanly connects with one cable to the Console control surface to provide 8 XLR/TRS ins with mic preamps & onboard DSP, 14 analog outs, ADAT I/O, Digital I/O (AES/EBU, Coaxial), MIDI I/O, and Wordclock. V-Studio 700 users can double I/O capability with an additional VS-700R I/O Module.
The integrated Roland Fantom VS hardware synth is stocked with over 1400 patches from the world renowned Fantom synthesizer. Fantom VS is expandable via ARX expansion slot found on the V-700R I/O Module for even more sounds.
