Apogee Symphony News: Since the arrival of Pro Tools 10 we’ve been waiting for Thunderbolt interfaces to hit the market, and it’s no surprise that Apogee are one of the companies ready and waiting to accomodate lightning-fast connectivity with the Symphony 64, a 64-channel Thunderbolt card designed for Symphony I/O. Also out at NAMM 2012 is the Analog I/O module, again for your Symphony.

Apogee Symphony 64 Thunderbolt and Apogee 16x16 Analog I/O

Yes, using only a tiny amount of desktop space you’re able to hook up directly to your Mac (providing, of course, that it’s also Thunderbolt-ready), to take advantage of 64-channels of high quality audio at astonishing speeds – perfect for projects that demand you to work with a high number of channels at once, whether it by live recording capture or studio tracking.

As Thunderbolt takes off this year and more and more producers and engineers begin to make the jump across, the Symphony 64 will be well placed to attract serious attention. It’s worth noting that the card will work with AD-16X, DA-16X and Rosetta models that are equipped with Symphony X.

There’s also the 16x16 analogue I/O module, which has been designed to allow you access to a huge number of analogue ins and outs with a 2U rack chassis. Each 16x16 module only takes up two slots on the Symphony I/O, so you can cram 32 channels into one unit – incredibly high quality audio in an interface that will barely take up any room at all on your desktop.

So, you have 16 balanced ins, 16 balanced outs (2XDSUB connectors for good measure), and the option of SPDIF connection (through a single RCA).

Both cards bring new possibilities to what is already an incredibly popular interface system, so Symphony users should start thinking seriously about the Symphony 64 Thunderbolt card and 16x16 Analogue I/O module.
