In another first for their Advanced Media Products range, HHB have announced the HHB CDR80 Silver and HHB CDRW80, the world's first 80 minute professional audio CD-R and CD-RW discs to comply fully with Orange Book specifications. Unlike 80 minute discs available from other manufacturers, full compliance with Orange Book standards guarantees users of the HHB CDR80 Silver and HHB CDRW80 with excellent levels of performance and compatibility, further enhanced by HHB's now-legendary attention to detail in recording media design and manufacturing.

Achieved through a reduction of the track pitch, the extended recording time (actually 79 minutes and 59 seconds) is particularly useful for classical music recording in which the material often exceeds the 74 minutes provided by standard CD-R media, and for any recording application in which an increased recording time is required. For instance, HHB's CDR80 Silver and CDRW80 can accommodate a double vinyl album's worth of material - ideal for archiving and library applications.

Despite a more demanding manufacturing process, the performance and long term archival stability of both the HHB CDR80 Silver and HHB CDRW80 match precisely the high standards set by their 74 minute counterparts. Exceptionally wide power margins for both the write once and re-writable discs ensure compatibility with a wide range of professional CD recorders. An advanced Silver-Indium-Antimony-Tellurium phase change recording material in the HHB CDRW80 delivers more than 1000 erase / record cycles and a secure archival life in excess of 100 years, while the ultra-stable advanced, second generation Phthalocyanine recording dye used in the HHB CDR80 Silver is particularly resistant to the harmful affects of UV light, providing long term data security of 200 years.

Technical note: The new Orange Book specification for extended recording time CD-R and CD-RW media was agreed on April 22nd, 1999. The HHB CDR80 Silver conforms with the Orange Book specification Part 2 and the HHB CDRW80 conforms with Part 3, V2.0.
