Native Instruments Maschine Mikro is an intuitive, portable hardware controller paired with sample-based sequencing, this Groove Production Studio boasts a small desktop footprint and the legendary velocity pads that have made the Maschine series of products an industry standard.
The software includes a 6.2GB sound library – comprising over 18,000 loop, single-hit, instrument and drum kit samples – which can be quickly accessed, compared and assigned to the 16 pads (each with up to 16 velocity levels) , while a further 28 buttons and an endless rotary knob allow for quick editing, arrangement and playback. Group your sounds, add effects and create and glue together triggered patterns from scratch, either on your computer or with a hands-on approach direct from the controller.
In conjunction with the (separately downloadable) iMaschine app for iPhone and iPad, you can kick off the creative process wherever you are, and drop your ‘Maschinations’ straight in when you’re back at the studio. On top of that it’ll handle REX2 compositions and can export MIDI via drag’n’drop operation. Whatever the setup, it’ll work within the DAW of your choice as a VST, AU or RTAS plug-in.
