The Roland R-26 Portable Digital Recorder is an innovative multi-track portable recorder with two types of built-in stereo microphones for producing high quality recordings.
Giving a number of options for recording, the R-26 can record up to six channels - three stereo pairs - simultaneously. Built into the unit are two stereo microphone pairs, one pair of directional microphones and one pair of omni-directional microphones. Each pair can be recorded together or separately, enabling the recording of a wide stereo field without picking up unwanted background noise.
There are also two XLR/TRS combo microphone inputs, and an input for a stereo plug-in powered microphone. These inputs can also be combined with the R-26’s internal microphones, adding even more flexibility for recordings.
The R-26 has a large LCD touchscreen display, ideal for navigating its menus for setting up and editing recordings, and the on-board input level control enables precise gain adjustments. There is also an onboard limiter and low-cut filter to reduce distortion and noise, whilst the useful Pre-Recording feature can start recordings two seconds earlier than requested in case the user is late in pressing the record button.
The Roland R-26 allows users to capture the same sound source with three different types of microphones, both internal and external. The R-26 can be connected to a computer for use as an audio interface with the included Sonar LE software, or as an external storage device. The unit can be powered in three different ways - by internal or external AA batteries, or by the included AC adaptor. The unit also comes complete with an SD card for storing recordings.
