Introducing the Zoom H2 Recorder, an ideal handheld recorder for capturing wide stereo recordings. The Zoom can be used in a wide variety of applications, from recording seminars and conferences, interviews and podcasting, to musical performances and reheasals. The Zoom is equipped with two sets of high-quality microphones, one pair facing the front and one pair facing the rear, giving you the option to record at 90° from the front or 120° from the rear. By combining both sets of microphones you can record with 360° coverage. The H2 provides versatility with its wide variety of recording formats. You can select whether you wish to record in 24bit/96khz linear PCM (WAV files) format for high quality audio or in MP3 format at almost any bit rate if you wish to record for longer and when the quality is less important. Whether it is the subtlety of an acoustic instrument or the ambience of a venue, the H2 offers transparent, high-resolution capability.
A 512MB SD card is included with the Zoom, and the H2 supports SD cards with capacities up to 32GB allowing up to 50 hours of recording time at 16bit/44.1kHz WAV format. The H2 recorder can also be used as a USB microphone and has an interface which allows it to be operated in such a way. The USB port can also act as a means of transferring your files to your PC or Mac quickly, and you can even transfer music to your H2 as it can act as a music player. To make playback and editing efficient, the Zoom comes equipped with a time-stamp function so that you’ll always be able to quickly know the details of your recordings.
To minimise recording time there is an automatic recording function that instructs the H2 to begin recording when audio is detected and stop when audio ceases. The H2 can be powered on just two AA batteries for up to 4 hours, or alternatively can be powered by the supplied AV adaptor. There are a number of useful tools that musicians will welcome, including an onboard tuner to check the pitch of your recordings and a built in metronome which can be used a click-track during recording. The H2 is a highly flexible, easy to operate recorder and its intuitive design means you’ll be recording from the moment you pick it up.
