With the Leipzig V3 Analogue Solutions presents the third generation of their monophonic analogue synthesizer. The two oscillation with sawtooth and square waveforms have a pressure and radiance, as you know it more from classics of the 70s and 80s. Glide, pulse width and tuning are separately adjustable for each tone generator. The first oscillator is followed by a sub oscillator that adds an extra pound of bass. There is also hardsync between the oscillators for the cutting lead sounds and a mixable noise generator that can alternatively be used as an audio input. The filter is a powerful 24dB lowpass filter with a transistor cascade, commonly known as a Moog filter. For modulation of the sound-forming components there are two ADSR envelopes, which have a very percussive curve in their shortest settings. An LFO with triangle and square waveforms, oscillator 2 and the velocity are additionally available to realize sound movements up to the FM range. The VCA can optionally be opened by envelope 1 or 2 or keyboard gate, as a fourth option there is "Thru", which is ideal for use as a stand-alone filter box or drone synth.
The quaint 8-step sequencer as a meandering bulwark of loop-based music triggers the two envelopes with each step and can be synchronized to three sources. The control voltage set with the knobs can be dosed to each oscillator individually and additionally to the filter. This, together with the other modulation possibilities, allows for exciting grooves and sound bending that could rather be achieved with a similarly extensive modular system. Minimalism and purism go hand in hand here.
The third generation of this great-sounding synthesizer has been improved and expanded in several details. The enclosure is now in compact desktop format and takes up less space on the desk than its predecessors. Besides the new headphone output there are some CV/Gate inputs and outputs, which makes the Leipzig V3 now compatible to Eurorack modules, but also semi-modular synthesizers. The sequencer is now able to switch the square waveform of the second oscillator on or off on selected steps and can be provided with clock dividers other than 16ths via MIDI.
