The Arturia MicroFreakVocoder Edition is a hybrid synthesizer with different oscillator models and capacitive touch keyboard controller and vocoder function. The compact instrument is the result of a cooperation between Arturia and Mutable Instruments and contains eleven different digital synthesis models like eg. Karplus Strong, Wavetable, FM, Waveshaper, GrainorChords. These models are unmistakably Mutable Instruments. Here especially the Plaits oscillator from the Eurorack. The tone generator is followed by an analog 12dB multimode filter that corresponds to the OberheimSEM VCF.
Vocoder function
The epithet "Vocoder Edition" sums it up: a 16-band Vocoder including gooseneck microphone now adorns the ArturiaMicroFreakVocoder Edition. Especially for the Vocoder the sound generation was extended with sawtooth, square and noise to reproduce the classic vocoder sounds in the best possible way. With the controls Timbre and Shape the behaviour of the 16 frequency bands is adjusted. The possibilities go far beyond typical robot-speak. 16 new presets give an insight into what the MFVE is capable of. Because a three-voice chord oder a string sound, especially with the integration of the arpeggiator open up an undreamt-of range of sounds. The jack on the base of the gooseneck microphone is for the Kopfhörer. The headphone jack in the unit is a TRRS jack, as used on mobile phones and their headsets. The microphone is connected here, and an optionally available adapter can also be connected to make the audio input accessible. Connect a drum machine here, and the synthesized drums from "Members or Mayday - Sonic Empire" will find their way into your own music.

Well what a fun ,enjoyable & professional bit of kit.Well built easy to use the sequencer is great sound quality top notch .Easy to use .You can design your own sound bank with the software on your PC or Mac that arturia provide and with the many Soundbanks out there ..The name Microfreak fits this lovely little synth perfectly .
In a crowded market with plenty of duplication and similar products the Microfreak is a genuine breath of fresh air. Completely unusual architecture, amazing results, very accessible (and my kids love it too). Blows my.mind every time I switch it on.
The most outstanding feature is the magnificence of his voice. It provides an unlimited range of sound. Also very easy to use. It takes good design engineering to design such a small device so efficiently in terms of ease of use. I predict that it will be a synthesiser that is sought in the future and that has left its mark on its period and future periods.
