Behringer C-2 microphones feature a super-light diaphragm for wide frequency response and good sound quality, and their extremely handy format makes them perfect for acoustic instruments like piano or as overhead mics.
Their cardioid characteristic ensures excellent feedback rejection. Other useful features include a switchable high-pass filter and an optional level cut (-10 dB). A transformerless and low-noise FET input circuit prevents distortion in the bass range, and a gold-plated XLR connector ensures perfect signal transmission. Bright, but not harsh. Very good features and sound. Highly useful in home or project studios.
If you have more money, go for Neumann 184 or Oktava 012.
I wanted a pair of home studio mics for general music and podcast use. These are multipurpose, condenser mics supplied as a matched stereo pair so either independently or together can be used in a wide range of situations to capture individual instruments or a complete sound stage. Such good value for a boxed matched pair of well made condenser mics.
This might not be the go-to mics for an Abbey Road recording, but for a small home studio, it's quite incredible how good the C2's sound for the price. Using them for an upright piano and the capture the clarity and depth surprisingly well (with moderate EQing). Money well spent!
The C2s come in a decent sturdy feeling case, and the mics themselves feel tough enough that you don't feel ultra precious about them, which is nice.
I was very impressed by the sound considering the price. I use them for acoustic guitar recording (14th fret, and behind the bridge, about 40cm away) and they have a decent amount of bass for the stuff I do. I can't comment on wind noise because I don't use them outside, but the included foam windscreens and the high pass switch would probably help in those situations.
Overall, well worth the money if you need a pair of cheap small diaphragm condensers!
