The Donner B1 credibly joins the ranks of clones of the famous Roland TB-303 bass synthesizer, whose bubbling and screaming sound has captivated generations of musicians, DJs and revelers. Probably the most widely used sound in electronic music, it gets by with surprisingly few controls and really comes alive with its internal sequencer. An oscillator with two waveforms, the legendary acid filter, a Decay envelope and the Accent parameter; that's all it takes to create the legendary sound. Compared to the original from 1982, the B1 Distortion and a Delay effect for analog tone generation and, among other things, ratcheting and an arpeggiator for the sequencer have been added.
Sequencer
The sequencer gives access to 256 patterns, which are divided into 128 User and Factory memory locations. The indispensable and characteristic commands Accent and Slide are of course on board. In addition, there is the possibility to transpose patterns live. In addition, ratchetings can be programmed, which give the patterns a new kind of liveliness by 303 standards. For the Trance & Goa faction an extensively adjustable Arpeggiator was implemented.
Effects
What would the most famous bass sound in the world be without the pithy addition of a distortion?! Donner has given the B1 a biting distortion with Tone control and an analog-sounding Delay. Especially this effect combination should bring back memories of numerous Hardfloor releases.
