March 3, 2016 marked the anniversary of the release of the groundbreaking "Master of Puppets" album by the Thrash Metal pioneers. Metallica for the 30th time. Reason enough for ESP , with the ESP LTD Master of Puppets to put on a very special electric guitar to celebrate this memorable event, swear with James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett but both riffsmiths of the probably most successful and best known Metal band of all times on the instruments of the Japanese manufacturer.
The ESP LTD Master of Puppets is strictly limited, only 400 copies of this unique electric guitar are available worldwide. The graphic finish with the cover artwork of the legendary album hides a genuine metal guitar, with which the riffs of "Master of Puppets", " Battery " or "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" cannot be played more authentically. The electric guitar has a continuous maple neck, which, in combination with the body wings made of alder and the Palisander fingerboard, provides a powerful primary sound and lets every riff go off the fingers loosely. The sound conversion is carried out by two active EMG 81 Humbucker , which have significantly influenced the sound of Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield and with their aggressive, middle-focused sound represent every note precisely.
With "Master of Puppets" their third Studio album was released Metallica on 3rd March 1986. With hymns like the title track "Master of Puppets", " Battery " and the instrumental " Orion " it is considered by fans and critics to be the most innovative and best album in the creative phase of the band. This opinion was shared in spring 2016 by the curators of the United States Library of Congress and "Master of Puppets" was chosen as the first metal album that is "culturally, historically or aesthetically significant" enough to be permanently preserved in the National Recording Registry.
