The Fender Ltd Ed Player Stratocaster HSS Plus Top MN (Sienna Sunburst) is a Limited Edition 6-String Electric Guitar taken from the Player Series. 2x traditional Alnico 5 Single-Coils (in Neck and Mid position) deliver the familiar clear Bell-Like Sounds with an airy touch and present Mid-Range, whilst the Player Series Alnico 2 Humbucker provides powerful Bridge sounds with additional Output for Rock and Metal. The Hardware set-up is in the form of a synchronized Fender 2-Point Tremolo, solid Die-Cast Mechanics and classic Fender "F" Stamped Neck-Plate. The Player Strat HSS Plus Top features a strikingly grained 2-Piece Curly Maple Top and a strictly limited Sienna Sunburst Finish.
Fender Ltd Ed Player Stratocaster HSS Plus Top MN (Sienna Sunburst)This is a beautiful looking instrument and though I paid more for the plus top and Sienna burst I'm delighted with it. The bridge humbucker takes nothing from the tone but provides a substantial boost for soloing with or without distortion. The craftsmanship is superb and on a par with the more expensive American models I've owned in the past. I gave only four stars for sound but a little height adjustment of the middle and neck pickups has cured my misgivings. A great guitar.
Great looking guitar (as reflected in the extra-over price), but I'm happy to have paid for that. I can't help admiring it on the wall. From the sellers photos the gloss fingerboard finish, cream pickup covers and cream buttons aren't apparent but all add to the plus top for a special looking guitar.
The humbucker is significantly louder when used alone (in the bridge position) rather than the other 4 pickup positions, however I'm finding some benefits to that aspect. The alternative tone that the humbucker provides has opened up far more options for rhythm playing and soling. The single coil pickups have a nice balance of volume and tone accross the strings and sound particularly good in the out-of-phase positions.
The two point tremelo moves much more freely than traditional 6-screw versions.
I needed to make a few tweaks (truss rod, intonation, moving the pickups closer to the strings) but I'm happy now. There's good guidance in the Fender download docs.
Very pleased with the guitar, great quality at a reasonable price. The guitar arrived with a quite good set up and ready to play. Very satisfied with the purchase. Will buy from MUSIC STORE again. Thank you!
