With the
Gibson 1960 Hummingbird AN Adjustable Bridge
, the U.S. manufacturer presents a detailed replica of the Hummingbird, which was first produced in the 1960s. In addition to the characteristic Hummingbird pickguard, the Hummingbird AN Adjustable Bridge is equipped with the same materials that were used at that time. Its solid construction gives the instrument a powerful sound, which is quickly and fully developed by thermo-treating the top wood and applying a wafer-thin hand-rubbed finish, giving the impression that it is indeed a relic from days gone by. A sturdy case, a certificate of authenticity and a Gibson Accessory Kit are included.
In order to produce a bright and rich sound, the manufacturer uses a fine-grained Sitka spruce wood for the construction of the top, which is first subjected to a thermal treatment. The sound is produced fast and long lasting just like an instrument that has been played for decades. This effect is further enhanced by a flat Scalloped-X-Bracing, which allows the top wood to vibrate freely. A wafer-thin nitro lacquer with a simple antique natural finish also plays its part. Surrounded by a cream-colored multi-ply binding, the color gradient of the top merges smoothly into the finish of the back and sides, perfectly matching the rest of the instrument's components. The heart of the Gibson 1960 Hummingbird is the generous pickguard, which is decorated with a hummingbird and elaborate floral ornaments and is also the guitar's namesake.
Perfectly matched to the top wood, the manufacturer uses a high-quality mahogany wood for the back and sides which not only gives the entire tone a warm note, but also enriches the bass and mid frequencies with a basic saturation that makes the instrument perfect for vocal accompaniment and rhythms. The thin lacquer also allows the back to vibrate more freely, producing a quick response even with light strokes. The back and sides are also bounded with a multi-layer binding. This gives the guitar a tasteful contrast to the reddish color of the finely grained wood. The even grain of the material also shows that the manufacturer uses only the finest woods for his high-quality custom store instruments to create the perfect sound experience for which his guitars are famous all over the world.
To ensure courteous playing, the manufacturer of the Gibson 1960 Hummingbird AN Adjustable Bridge uses a mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard that can be played on with a nut width of 43.81 mm and a shortened scale length of 628.65 mm and can be gripped up to the highest frets decorated with Mother-of-Pearl parallelogram inlays. Clean intonation is ensured by a bone saddle and a corresponding bridge inlay, which is embedded in a fixed rosewood bridge. The precise workmanship of the inlays illustrates the craftsmanship of the Gibson Custom Shop. Golden Gotoh Keystone tuners are embedded in the characteristic headstock, which allows easy tuning of the 6 steel strings and adds a noble touch to the overall picture. The guitar comes with a sturdy wooden case with black interior, a certificate of authenticity with model number and a Gibson accessory kit.
