Electro acoustic guitar with 8 strings low

With the Guild BT-258E Deluxe Baritone the US-American traditional manufacturer expands its program with a low tuned baritone western guitar with 8 strings in jumbo size, which convinces with its extraordinary, double chord sound as well as with its excellent quality.

Woods and construction

Thanks to a solid top made of Sitka spruce, the mid and treble frequencies unfold in a very clear and defined way, perfectly complementing the warm bass frequencies of the huge body. The curved back of laminated rosewood vibrates powerfully with every strum, creating a full-bodied saturation and an exceptionally long-lasting tone. A flat mahogany neck with a pau ferro fingerboard provides excellent playability across all 20 frets, which are marked with mother-of-pearl dot inlays for orientation. In addition, a compensated bridge inlay and bone nut provide clean intonation on the long 685 mm scale.

Pickup

In order to also amplify the acoustic sound, the manufacturer installs a high-quality Fishman GT-1 pickup, which perfectly rounds out the functionality of the eight-string Guild BT-258E Deluxe Baritone acoustic guitar.

Tuned in B-E-a-A-d-D-F♯-B, the BT-258E Deluxe Baritone produces an exceptionally deep sound.

Guild 8 String Baritone

My BT-258E came a couple of weeks ago and it's a really interesting guitar, 27" scale and 8 strings. Personally I found the 16-70 strings too heavy for me but no problem, I'm experimenting with a lighter set tuned to E to maintain good string tension, it sounds great with the 2 extra drone strings. Less great are the tuners, they're 18:1 and stamped 'Guild' so I expected good quality, but 3 of them have excessive backlash making the guitar difficult to tune. DV247 are a bit slow responding to my problem, but will keep the guitar regardless as it's so unusual!
